The youngest gun in the West Midlands!

As reported in the Walsall Chronicle last week  – Walsall Council has just employed their youngest school crossing patrol warden and Keltic clothing helped to get him started by providing our very own summer stop jacket from our school crossing patrol clothing range. 19 year old Ben Jeffery decided to become a school crossing patrol warden after taking the advice of his Grandad.

His Grandad used to work for the council himself and encouraged Ben to follow in his footsteps. Walsall Council have over 80 members of staff and the age range varies from 19 to 75. A massive 62 of the 80 patrols are under the age of 65. This proves the assumption wrong that all school crossing patrol staff are retired people

As well as supplying our local council , we also supply to over 100 other council with their school crossing patrol uniform. This number is growing every week. Councils are moving to Keltic because not only are we saving them a significant amount of money, we also have all our stock on the shelf for next day delivery.

For further information  please call Louise Bennett on 08450 66 66 99 or email scp@kelticclothing.co.uk

Welcome back to the UK’s School Crossing Patrol Staff!

We hope you had a lovely, well deserved break.

If you’ve recruited new staff over the summer and need a few bits of uniform quickly, we can help.  All our School Crossing Patrol garments are in stock for next day delivery.  Even if you’ve just run out of a certain size and need the odd one or two jackets or accessories, you get the same low price and next day delivery, ready for the new school term.

As we are all sadly aware, the dark nights will be soon be drawing in, and you can make your patrols more visible by supplying them with our Superior Stop Jacket.  It features Reflexite tape which allows it to be seen up to 8 times further away than the usual glass bead tape. It is also fully functional in the ever-present rain whereas glass bead tape isn’t. If you’re attending the Road Safety GB Conference in November we’ll be happy to show you a live  demonstration of this with our water booth.

We’ve been working hard on some new products  over the last few months, so watch this space for our new SCP product launch. We’re looking for people to trial some samples for us, so if this is something you’d be interested in doing, please  just get in touch.

If you have any questions or would like any information please don’t hesitate to call me on 08450 66 66 99 or email scp@kelticclothing.co.uk

New uniform wear – The Patrol Shirt

We’ve recently launched our brand new Patrol Shirt, ideal for the spell of warm weather we are having at the moment. Pete, a Police Constable based in Scotland shares his thoughts on the brand new uniform wear he has worn as a trial over the past week:

“I have been given another product for review by the fantastic people at Keltic Clothing. The product this time around is their newly developed Patrol Shirt. It is designed for uniform and security personnel and uses technology often found in sportswear in that it is made of moisture wicking fabric, drawing moisture away from the body.

The product is available in both Black and White, retailing from Keltic Clothing for £15.95 per unit. Moving away from the moisture wicking fabric for a moment, the shirt clearly has some important features, making it attractive for active personnel. It features epaulettes on each shoulder which make it easy for the user to attach identifiable numbers or letters. They are secured to the shirt by means of a small piece of velcro. The fabric is such that small holes could be made if required for the numbers to be attached.

Moving to the main body of the shirt. It has two radio loops near to the chest area. They would be suitable for attaching a torch or any other piece of equipment required.

The shirt also feature two small pockets, one on each sleeve. I found that they were quite neatly positioned just near to the bottom of the sleeve, meaning that if the wearer had on body armour or some other form of sleeveless jacket, the pen pockets would always be accessible. Both of the pen pockets were split into two.

We thought that we would wear the product as a normal, everyday shirt, thereafter wear it whilst carrying out some fitness training to truly test out the moisture wicking capabilities.

I thought that wearing the shirt whilst doing some cycling would give a true indication of the shirts capabilities for taking moisture away from the body. I went cycling for an hour and did sweat a considerable amount. I was keen to see what the reaction of the fabric would be. To try and copy the fact that most wearers of the Patrol Shirt will have on a vest or body armour of some sort, I wore a cycling jacket over the product to try and simulate the other layer.

I found that all of the moisture produced went straight from the body and into the fabric, without dripping off onto other clothing, making things uncomfortable. After the cycle had finished, the product remained free from any odours and any moisture dried in very quickly.

Overall, I was very satisfied with the performance of the Patrol Shirt and its moisture wicking capabilities. It would be an excellent choice to keep personnel cool during long summer days especially with other items worn on top”.

Aberdeen Council confirm Keltic Jackets are ‘completely waterproof’ during wettest June on record

We were lucky enough to visit Aberdeen City Council in their stunningly beautiful new offices in January – and now they have new jackets as well!

Town House Aberdeen

Town House Aberdeen

And boy were our jackets put to the test this last month in this continuously wet, humid, stormy weather. Lee Taylor, Facilities Officer at Aberdeen Council has given us some brilliant feedback on why our jackets are so good for these weather conditions, saying “All the garments are very high quality. The jackets are completely waterproof and we have had no problems with leaky jackets. We particularly like the quilted liner as we can remove it on warmer days”. Wow, what great feedback!

We don’t want to get too big-headed, but Lee also said “The customer service is brilliant, delivery times are always kept to, they have competitive prices” and best of all “I would recommend Keltic Clothing to all Councils”. Double wow!

Since our jackets are highly breathable, patrollers can still feel cool but won’t get soaking wet in the process. Perfect for another wash-out week! Have a good one!
