Road Safety Clothing Blog
Road Safety Week is the UK’s biggest road safety event and is aimed at raising awareness about the part we can play in preventing tragedies and making roads safer!
As you may well know, Keltic are huge supporters of road safety training. We think that it is vital that children have this education in order that they learn how to safely navigate roads. Unfortunately every year many children are involved in collisions. Many of these could be prevented if the child was more aware of their actions and potential consequences. Teaching children about these things during the course of road safety training can drastically reduce the chance of a child being involved in such collisions.
Road Safety Week Competition
Anything that we can do to support Road Safety Week, we are more than happy to do. This year we thought that it would be appropriate to run a competition, the winner of which will receive one of our Street Feet kits. These kits facilitate the kind of training that we are talking about. They model real life roads, with role-play tabards that help children understand crossings, lights and signs. They also includes destination mats which allow children to practice route planning and road navigation.
How To Enter
For further details on the competition and how to enter then just give us a call on 08450 666699. And if you have any enquiries about the kit or about anything else for that matter, you can make them here.
It’s hard to believe but Autumn and Winter are fast approaching. Soon we’ll all be wrapping up warm to head out into the cold. For people who work outside, the weather can make a big impact on their days, and according to the NHS website, their health, too. This means that it’s time to be thinking about warm winter jackets for your patrols.
Winter Jackets: Make the Right Choice
Our exclusive STOP range of winter jackets, both standard and superior, are the best choice when it comes to keeping your School Crossing Patrols warm and dry in the typical harsh British weather. Added details of higher collars for wind protection, enhanced velcro cuffs to lock in the warmth and longer length backtails for protection from splashes are just some of the highlights from a long list of added features enhancing our jackets. These additional features will ensure that your staff are comfortable and protected from the elements.
We keep a huge range of stock in a huge range of sizes. All are available on a next day service. What’s more is that we send out samples to customers who would like to try out their jackets before they commit to purchasing them. This service is totally free. Call us for more details. Our number is 08450 666699. Our friendly staff will be more than happy to give you more information.
As always, the new term is coming up fast. Schools around the country are gearing up for new challenges and new ventures. Perhaps you’re thinking about investing in some new educational resources. If so, have you heard about our road safety kit – Street Feet?
Out in every weather, on their feet constantly, a school crossing patrol’s job can be tiresome. At Keltic we really respect the SCP’s that we supply. That’s why when we heard recently about Cathy Cross of Wiltshire Council’s 37 year service, we had to do something to thank her!
Yes! Summer is just around the corner! Many of us are starting to think about our summer wardrobe. Perhaps it’s time to also start thinking about your staff’s summer wardrobe. It’s important that your staff are comfortable in their work attire. To ensure that they stay cool this summer, why not take a look at our summer range of road safety clothing. Here’s a little taster of the kind of summer wear that our road safety department offer.
It’s Road Safety Week this week, and to celebrate we are offering a discount on our Street Feet Kits. These road safety education kits are hugely popular when it comes to training school children in road safety. School Crossing Patrols play a vital role in school children’s safety. Helping children to navigate roads, they ensure that they are free from danger on their way into school. At Keltic we are really appreciative of the fantastic job that SCP’s do, and we think that it’s only right that we should, now and again, give something back. Sandy Flamson from Whitwick in Leicestershire has been a patrol for an amazing forty-two years. We therefore decided to present her with a prize for being the longest serving patrol in her region.
Forty-two years of service is commendable in any profession, but for one that helps the community so much, it’s really amazing. We were therefore delighted to travel to Leicester and present Sandy with a badge and champagne for her brilliant work. We also thought it right to give some cupcakes and gingerbread men to her fellow patrols!
Why Sandy Loves Being an SCP
From speaking to Sandy, it was clear that this was somebody who loves their job. When we asked her why, Sandy said the following:
“I love my job because I’m helping children to be safe and I feel like I’m making a worthwhile contribution to the community. I enjoy being out in the fresh air, meeting new people and watching the children grow up. In some cases I’m now crossing their children!”
Wholly appreciated by children, parents and teachers alike Sandy continues to contribute to the community and do a fantastic job as a SCP. Sandy is a lovely lady and we were thrilled to be a part of her day!
We recently held a competition to find the longest serving patrol in each region of the UK. The prize for the winner in each region was a bottle of champagne and a length of service badge. Also, one of our amazing STOP cupcakes for each of our winner’s fellow SCP’s.
East Yorkshire’s Winner
Margaret Cattle from Cottingham in East Yorkshire started as a patrol in 1972 clocking up an amazing 43 years service. It was a pleasure to go up and present the award to Margaret and give her some well earned recognition for her hard work and dedication.
Watch This Space SCP’s!
We look forward to presenting the rest of our awards in due course. Check back soon to see who the winner is in your area!
Out in every weather, on their feet all day long, School Crossing Patrols do a great job. And an important one, too. They keep our children out of harms way on the roads, and help parents rest easy as their children walk to and from school. Valuing SPC’s very highly, we recently decide to launch a competition. We want to find the UK’s longest serving patrols.
Our gingerbread school crossing patrols went down a storm at the road safety GB exhibition, and they may be making another appearance soon so watch this space!!!
