Finding the right corporate uniform for your staff can be difficult. There are many factors to contend with. Demanding bosses and fussy colleagues are not the least of your concern, and then there’s the pressure of making sure the uniform matches the job role, projects the brand image and stands the test of time. Keeping this all in mind whilst deliberating the overwhelming range of options can get a little stressful. Hence our advice of the week: ‘try before you buy’!
Impressions matter a great deal in the corporate world – if you wear shabby and unimpressive clothes to work, you may be perceived in a negative way by your colleagues and bosses, even if your record is exemplary. In fact, many companies have made it mandatory to wear suits in the office. In this article we’ll explore the ways that wearing corporate suits can enhance the impression you make at work.
There is certainly a hype surrounding the brand new James Bond film Sky fall released last week. We couldn’t help but notice Daniel Craig in a very dashing dress suit not dissimilar to our own!

Now we are nearing the end of another great year, 2012 is set to be even bigger for us with exciting developments to our corporate suit ranges.
All our corporate suits are inspired by latest trends and iconic styles regularly featured in the world of fashion, much like the latest Corgnelliani range of menswear. In the early part of next year we will be launching a brand new men’s 2 button front jacket into our very popular Performance Collection. With a striking stripe and much more fitted, modern approach, this is set to be a great hit – watch this space!
Any uniform suit we develop includes key fashion details to ensure your staff feel elegant in whatever they wear. With guaranteed performance woven into this, our uniform suits are nothing short of a revelation in the current market of workwear.
We are delighted to hear that the fashion designer and all-round legend Sir Paul Smith is to be awarded the Outstanding Achievement in Fashion Design Award. Given last year to Alexander McQueen, Sir Paul will pick up this award at the British Fashion Awards.
Sir Paul is famous for his quintessentially British tailoring, and it is his amazing eye for detail that sets his suiting apart. We take huge inspiration from Sir Paul and many of our recent corporate suits developments such as our new linings showing a map of Europe and the ruffled back panel detail on our latest ladies jacket are a respectful nod to recent Paul Smith collections.
Sir Paul, who was knighted in 2000, said his success is due to two qualities often overlooked in fashion “organisation and being down to earth”. He said “The thing I’m most proud of out of anything is continuity. I’m reliable, polite and I deliver clothes on time that are well-made at the right price”. Modest as ever! We agree wholeheartedly with this statement and believe that a uniform suit that is well made and delivered on time is the strongest foundation that a uniform suits supplier can have. We look to recreate some of Sir Paul Smith’s magic in the uniform suits world, with a traditional work ethic, reliable service and delivery, and a keen eye for design and detail.
Previous winners of the Outstanding Achievement in Fashion Design include Dame Vivienne Westwood and Stephen Jones.

Jared Leto has landed a modelling contract with Hugo Boss, and in the latest issue of GQ
he’s wearing a rather fetching slim-lapel suit, much like our own Milan Jacket. Our Milan Jacket also includes a number of other key details such as a ticket pocket.
Our Corporate Wear Department interpret the latest fashions from the catwalk and the high end retail brands into fabrics and styles that will perform and last when worn as part of a work uniform. We’re really proud of our latest collection; the Europa Collection of corporate suits, which we think achieves this perfectly.
Fashion isn’t just for women and our full range of male uniform suits have been designed to offer fashionable styles and choices, to create workwear suits you feel both comfortable and confident wearing.

One valued customer who we regularly supply corporate suits for, Worsbrough Brass band will be travelling to Schwabish Gmund in Germany this July for a forthcoming tour. The band was formed in 1993 by a group of children and their parents. Only a small group with not much funding, their enthusiasm and talent secured them a national lottery award to fund for a new set of instruments. Since then they have gone from strength to strength, and have won numerous awards including the recent 2010 win as ‘Yorkshire Area Championships’.
Schwabish Gmund in Germany is the twin town of Barnsley; apparently it is another mining town but whereas Barnsley was a coal mining town they mine for Gold. This year is the 40th celebrations for the twinning of the towns and Worsbrough Brass are going as guests of a local German Band. During the 6 days they will perform at 4 concerts, a friendly football match, and a beer and sausage evening, enjoying a barbeque of the delicious local meats before they leave. A number of the band have visited the region before and reported that it’s a very beautiful area.
For their upcoming tour, we have kitted them out in our formal uniform suits and matching bow ties and scarves. To show our support, in exchange for their loyal custom we have sponsored their corporate shirts.
If any of our customers reading this would like to be involved in future blogs, please get in touch. We’d love to feature your organisation, and if you have a great photo like this one showing off your new look, all the better!

So, your boss has given you the task of buying suits for your team? Sounds simple? Well it does to them – they don’t have to navigate the thousands of websites, hundreds of brochures, not to mention tetchy staff who can’t agree on a style! Here are our top tips for picking the right corporate suits for your working environment.
- Think about your staff’s job role and work environment.
If they are receptionists in a five star hotel, looking impeccable at all times will be the foremost priority, so pick the most beautifully cut and fashionable suit, made out of the finest fabrics your budget will allow. If they are porters in the same hotel, or security guards at company offices, or sales representatives that work outside/in and out of cars, this receptionist suit would look awful in a matter of hours and be ruined in a matter of weeks. So go for a more durable suit. Durable suits are usually lower cost because they’re made from less fine fabric and the cut tends to be more simple and less fashion-led.There are ranges that are a happy medium, but the key thing is – choose a company that makes clear the recommended use for each of their suit ranges. All suits look pretty much the same in a brochure or on a website – a uniform suit supplier worth their salt will listen to what your staff are doing and ask about your work environment – otherwise, your nice new suits could look like old dishcloths in no time!
- Think about a style suitable for your staff.
The key thing is to give choice but not too much choice. Speak with your supplier to narrow down the collection based on question 1 which leaves you a small handful of choices. Find the collection with a choice of jackets, trousers and skirts so your staff can select either a 3 button or 2 button jacket, low waist or high waist trouser depending on their personal choice. This ensures a happy medium while still retaining the smart corporate image.
- One size doesn’t fit all.
Check any range you pick includes all the sizes you need for your staff from stock – or if you have staff outside that range, can the same style be made for those staff, so they don’t feel left out
