Barbara O’Shea’s 52 Years Of Service As A School Crossing Patrol | Road Safety Clothing
As a lead supplier of Road Safety Clothing, we at Keltic like to acknowledge the hard work of school crossing patrols. Specifically, we take time to recognise those SCP’s who have given a significant amount of years to their local community. Today we are looking at the Cheshire West and Chester region, and commending a lady who has completed an impressive length of service, and who has just this year decided to retire.
Barbara’s Contribution to her Community
Barbara O’Shea started working as a school crossing patrol officer at Lostock Gralam Primary school in 1965. A year later she moved to Wincham Primary School, where she helped children to safely cross the road for an amazing fifty-one years. In 1996 this outstanding service to the community was acknowledged by the Queen and Barbara was awarded with an MBE!
Barbara proceeded to work for a further eleven years, during which time she would always be the first to volunteer to help her community, local school and colleagues at the council. Incredibly, in these latter years of her career Barbara found that some of the children she helped to cross when she first started work were now bringing their grandchildren to school!
A Well-Earned Retirement
After such a long career, Barbara now plans to enjoy a well-earned retirement! Upon hearing this we decided to give Barbara a special mention as part of our Longest Serving SCP Awards. We were pleased to award her with the goodies pictured above: a certificate, flowers, champagne and SCP themed biscuits! These were passed on to Louise Ward at Barbara’s local council, who then delivered them to Barbara’s home. Barbara was thrilled!
Congratulations!
Once again, congratulations Barbara! We hope you enjoy your retirement!
